Our minds tend to get a bad reputation when we feel stressed, anxious or overwhelmed, yet in reality we don’t want our brain to stop working (even though it can feel like it sometimes), just as we wouldn’t want our heart to stop beating!

What we want is to discover how to navigate the challenges and obstacles which trigger our stress response and the mind chatter that’s present and often running riot, so we can not only survive the pressures of modern life, but really thrive.

Hypnotherapy can help us to spot not only when our stress level is rising, but what our personal reaction to that stress is, so that we can begin to change patterns of behaviours and beliefs that keep us stuck.

Hypnotherapy quietens and calms the conscious mind allowing our deeper mind, the subconscious, to tune in and listen to our own internal navigation system.

Our emotional needs are not hierarchical, they overlap and interconnect and we need them to be met and in balance to support our nervous system and to keep us well.

Most frequent questions and answers about hypnotherapy

Most clients I see average around six hourly sessions.  I offer a bespoke service so however many sessions you require is entirely dependent on how you are feeling. All sessions are confidential, and in compliance with current data protection.

The first session is an initial consultation; it’s important to find out as much information as possible and to find the root cause of what you’re experiencing so that a treatment plan can be tailored especially for you. (please complete the client questionnaire)

After that, each session will follow a specific pattern which will be explained in your initial consultation, depending on your specific needs.

Anyone can be hypnotised if they want to be. We experience this natural state of mind all the time; if you’ve ever day dreamed, or become so absorbed in a book or film that you lose track of time, you have experienced trance, a state similar to that of hypnosis. People cannot however, be hypnotised if they don’t want to be, since the individual remains in control at all times.

You remain relaxed and in control throughout. You are always in charge; the therapist only facilitates this process. During hypnotherapy, you will not be made to do anything you do not want to do. Hypnotherapy differs from stage hypnotism in that hypnotherapy empowers the client and the client’s best interests are at heart. It’s a feeling of relaxed focus, a bit like daydreaming.

Stage hypnotists thoroughly vet their participants before hand – they choose extroverts who want to perform on the stage and who would not embarrass themselves or the hypnotist by not playing along. Since hypnosis cannot make someone do something they do not want to do, the participant subconsciously wants to do as the hypnotist asks and play along. Although this can demonstrate the power of hypnosis, it differs from hypnotherapy in a number of ways. Hypnotherapy aims to get to the root cause of your issue or problem, and I work with you to empower you and help you to make these changes. Your best interests are always at heart, and your integrity is of the utmost importance.
